Essential Functions: The Child Life Specialist is responsible for providing patient care services for infants, toddlers, school age children, adolescents and their families. Fosters, encourages emotional wellbeing, cognitive developmental opportunities for young patients and their families. Promotes a family centered care that reduces stress, helps with coping, provides activities to normalize and encourage social interaction. Supports developmental integrity through play experiences by creating a safe environment. Orients hospital staff of the psychosocial needs of children and their families and fosters positive hospital community relations. EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Required: Completion of Child Life Internship and eligible to sit for Certification Exam. Preferred: Two years' clinical experience in pediatric healthcare setting is preferred. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Preferred: Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) - (per the Certifying Commission and Association for Child Life Professionals guidelines and requirements) SPECIAL SKILLS AND TRAINING Minimum Required: eligible to become CPR certified, CPI trained, Trach Trained Preferred: CPR certification The above job summary is intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by people assigned to this work.
