Job Description

MEDSTAR HEALTH is seeking experienced CT Technologists for multiple openings in Baltimore, Maryland, within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a CT Technologist, you will play a key role in delivering patient-first care by producing high-quality diagnostic imaging studies that support accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions. Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will embody MedStar Health’s commitment to ethical practice, innovation, and exceptional patient service. In this role, you will perform a full range of computed tomography (CT) examinations for diverse patient populations, including emergency, inpatients, and outpatients. You will be responsible for verifying patient identification, obtaining relevant clinical history, and clearly explaining procedures to ensure that patients and families understand what to expect. Using your expertise in cross-sectional anatomy and CT imaging techniques, you will position patients safely and accurately, select appropriate protocols, and apply dose-optimization strategies to achieve high-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure. Daily responsibilities include operating CT scanners and associated imaging systems, starting IV lines, and administering contrast media in accordance with MedStar Health policies and evidence-based safety standards. You will monitor patients throughout the examination and post-contrast period, promptly recognizing and responding to adverse reactions or changes in condition. You will collaborate closely with radiologists, reviewing exam indications, adapting protocols when necessary, and obtaining additional images as requested to support high-quality diagnostic interpretations. CT Technologists at MedStar Health are expected to document procedures accurately in the electronic medical record and radiology information systems, maintain detailed records of contrast usage, and adhere to all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational policies. You will participate in routine equipment checks and quality-control activities, promptly reporting technical issues and working with leadership and vendors to maintain reliable, safe imaging equipment. A strong focus on infection prevention, patient privacy, and safety—including proper use of protective equipment and adherence to radiation safety best practices—is essential. You will contribute to an efficient, patient-centered workflow by assisting with exam scheduling and prioritization, coordinating with nursing and other departments, and supporting patient transport when needed. As part of MedStar Health’s culture of collaboration and continuous learning, you may help orient and mentor new technologists or students, share best practices with colleagues, and participate in ongoing education, certifications, and professional development opportunities. While the role is primarily based at a hospital or dedicated imaging center in Baltimore, there may be opportunities for a hybrid mix of on-site and limited remote responsibilities (such as protocol review or documentation) depending on departmental needs. MedStar Health offers CT Technologists a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement savings options, and paid time off. You will be supported by leadership that values ethical decision-making, innovation in clinical practice, and respectful teamwork. This position is ideal for skilled CT Technologists who are committed to high-quality imaging, safe and compassionate patient care, and ongoing professional growth within a leading not-for-profit health system serving the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region.
