What the role is

Our Designers are both creative thinkers and technical problem solvers, supporting projects from early design through construction. The role combines conceptual ideation, design development, and technical documentation, working under the guidance of Senior Designers and Project Leads.

Design + Creative Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to original creative ideation, concept development, and visual storytelling across multiple project phases.
  • Develop design solutions that align with client goals, contextual background, brand intent, budget, and schedule.
  • Assist in generating visual concepts through sketches, illustrations, spatial layout studies, mood boards, thoughtful use of defined materials, and 2D + 3D model studies.
  • Support communication of design intent through drawings, renderings, and presentation materials.
  • Apply material, color, and FF+E knowledge to support cohesive design narratives.

Technical + Documentation Responsibilities:

  • Develop projects from design through construction documents suitable for permit submission.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and well-coordinated construction drawings.
  • Integrate consultant information into drawing sets to ensure consistency and completeness.
  • Prepare drawings including plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules under direction of senior staff.
  • Ensure drawings adhere to applicable building codes, ADA requirements, and jurisdictional standards.
  • Maintain organized project files, documentation, revisions, and updates.

Coordination + Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with external consultants and trades, including MEP, structural, and kitchen equipment specialists.
  • Integrate consultant information into drawing sets to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Collaborate closely with internal team members to resolve design and technical issues.
  • Participate in internal reviews and coordination meetings as needed.
  • Capture notes during briefings, reviews, and client presentations, to ensure clear direction and decisions.
  • Manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands, and changes (working multiple projects at any given time).
  • Maintain excellent file management and organizational standards.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of our clients and FUTUREBRAND’s proprietary information.

Construction Phase Support:

  • Assist with construction administration, including review of shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs
  • Support the project team in maintaining schedule and responding to design related inquiries during construction.
  • Track design-related changes and revisions through construction.

Knowledge + Skills

  • Excellent natural problem-solving skills, and a desire to continuously improve.
  • Ability to take criticism and creative direction from senior design staff and leadership
  • Ability to follow design templates (print and digital), adhering to brand guidelines and maintaining consistency across a wide variety of media.
  • Capable of presenting materials that effectively communicate design concepts to clients and senior leaders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks to completion within established deadlines.
  • Must be flexible and deadline oriented.
  • Must be able to articulate creative ideas clearly.
  • Must have the ability to work quickly, calmly, and under pressure while also contributing to team efforts.

Education + Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, or Industrial Design preferred – Master’s Degree, a plus
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Experience in Retail + Hospitality preferred
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Sketchup, Enscape, Microsoft 365
  • 2D & 3D Analysis
  • Material & Color Analysis
  • Furniture awareness (FF + E= Furniture Fixtures and Equipment)
  • Knowledge of building codes, Local Governance and ADA Accessibility
