Job Description

POSITION DETAILS

Brooklyn College is soliciting applications for a Student Success Coach (Academic Advisor). Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Success, the Student Success Coach will work to fill in the grey areas between what is offered by Admissions counselors, Academic Advisors, Degree Audit staff, and Enrollment Specialists. This work will run parallel to existing offerings, but will be more directed and centered on assisting identified at-risk populations. Student Success Coaches will run campaigns to support specific student groups to allow for a more cohort-based model than currently exists in most student support areas. • Offer programs focused on academic success and persistence. Develop and conduct "Academic Mindfulness" seminars and others in order to improve student engagement and academic preparedness.
  • Utilize EAB Navigate to run progress reports, enrollment and appointment campaigns, and timely nudges.
  • Liaison to students submitting petitions, applying for readmission, and those who are academically at-risk.
  • Utilize advising technologies such as DegreeWorks, CUNYfirst, Schedule Builder, e-notes, Navigate, Transfer Explorer, and other emerging software to provide support and to monitor students' academic progress toward degree completion. Perform routine scribing updates for DegreeWorks.
  • Answer questions by email, phone, or video chat, from students, faculty, or administrators regarding degree requirements, academic regulations, and various other academic support services.
  • Design and implement targeted communication to support various coaching initiatives, prepare enrollment, retention, and assessment reports.
  • Participate in staff development programs, such as conferences, workshops, and staff meetings.
  • Occasionally work evening and/or weekend hours
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred Qualifications
