Description Freedom Terminal Services has an opening for a facility train conductor/engineer at our Ft. Laramie, WY location. This is a full-time position that will report directly to the Facility Supervisor. Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, short‑ and long‑term disability, paid holidays, and paid vacation. Purpose Primary purpose is to comply with training provided to enable employee to perform in accordance with work instructions and government regulations (EPA, and OSHA). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate in a manner where safety and environment are of the highest importance. Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence. Climb onto the top and crawl underneath railcars to inspect railcars using a checklist. Perform structural inspections as required. Prepare equipment for product transfer. Be responsible for the operation of compressors, auxiliary equipment, engines, pump stations, pumps, valves, tanks, pipelines, boilers and other related equipment. Start, stop, and operate engines/pumps within defined operating parameters. Complete all applicable documentation and record‑keeping. Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Ability to work outside most of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions. Throw track switches to facilitate shunting of cars and signal engineers to move cars using lantern, arm signals or radio. Couple and uncouple rail cars, operate switches, and remain in compliance with rules and regulations set by the company as well as FRA regulations that apply. Operate diesel‑electric locomotive through the use of throttle and brakes, while maintaining performance through an understanding of amperage, air pressure, train make‑up, track conditions, etc. Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance. Be available for shift work when applicable, overtime when required and to respond during working and non‑working hours as required. Work weekends and holidays as required. Work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, and take on additional job responsibilities as needed. Possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers. Preferred experience, skills and knowledge are advantageous but not required. Successful completion of a background check and drug screen. Physical Demands Must be able to see well enough to read gauges, precision instruments, schematics, maintenance manuals, standard operating procedures. Must be able to talk and hear well enough to communicate with co‑workers, supervisors and others within the company 100% of the time. Must be able to reach with arms and hands to perform inspection, maintenance and repair duties when needed. Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat. Must be able to use hands to grasp, handle, and feel. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to a high noise level; moving mechanical parts, moving machinery, outside weather conditions and elements.
