The Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Wastewater/Water Analytical Senior Chemist position. Responsibilities Performing complex physical, chemical, microbiological, and other laboratory analysis of domestic and industrial wastewater, treatment plant effluents, receiving waters, and other materials. Setting up, calibrating, operating, and maintaining a variety of advanced laboratory instruments and equipment. Interpreting and evaluating analytical results, including recognizing and solving problems. Preparing documentation of samples, tests, and procedures; generating analytical reports and documents related to the laboratory's quality assurance program. Providing improvements to laboratory processes and analytical procedures to improve efficiency and quality. Providing training, lead direction, work assignments, and work reviews for chemists and technicians; assists the Laboratory Supervisor with personnel matters. Education and Experience Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Do not substitute a resume for your application or write "see attached resume" on your application. Bachelor's degree in organic or inorganic chemistry, biochemistry or a closely related field. Four (4) years of full-time professional laboratory chemical analyses in a water or wastewater laboratory. Full-time professional experience in a related field may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two (2) years. Licenses/Certifications Specified positions may require possession of a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. Preference given to candidates who hold Nevada Water Environment Association Grade III Wastewater Quality Analyst Certification. Reciprocity: Employees with out-of-state certifications for any of the above may seek Nevada certification through reciprocity application within one (1) year of hire date. Background Investigation Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Additional background investigations may be conducted periodically after employment. Pre-Employment Drug Testing Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
