Job Description

Indiana University Health Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled Registered Radiology Assistant (RRA) to join our growing Radiology team. This advanced clinical role supports radiologists in delivering high-quality diagnostic and interventional imaging services while ensuring exceptional patient care, safety and communication. The ideal candidate is clinically confident, patient-centered, and comfortable performing a wide range of image-guided procedures under radiologist supervision.


Job Duties

  • Perform advanced imaging procedures under the direction of a supervising radiologist, including:
    • Gastrointestinal fluoroscopic procedures (UGI, SBFT, esophagrams, contrast enemas, feeding tube placements/checks)
    • Thoracentesis
    • Paracentesis
    • Joint injections and aspirations
    • Lumbar punctures
    • Image-guided biopsies (as credentialed)
  • Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform focused physical assessments relevant to the planned procedure.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes, and ensure informed consent is completed appropriately.
  • Assist radiologists with workflow optimization, protocol adherence, and clinical decision support.
  • Interpret preliminary imaging findings and communicate observations to supervising radiologists.
  • Document procedures, patient interactions, and clinical impressions in the electronic medical record.
  • Promote patient safety by following all IU Health policies, radiation safety standards, and infection-control practices.
  • Collaborate with technologists, nurses and other clinical staff to ensure efficient, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and departmental meetings.
Qualifications
  • Completion of accredited Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) or Radiology Practitioner Assistant (RPA) program.
  • Current AART certification with RRA credential
  • Current Indiana licensure or eligibility for licensure
  • Demonstrated competency in fluoroscopic and interventional procedures
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
